Save the Date!

Have been slaving over this since yesterday, and finally I've finished it!



This layout is a result of the corkboard idea for our save-the-dates pero my CF and I decided na for souvenirs na lang yon. Actually napag-usapan namin na wala na talaga akong save-the-dates kasi baka dagdag gastos lang yon. Since eto naman at nakagawa ako ng save-the-date card na walang gastos.... thru email na lang!!! Hehehe!

If we do have a pre-nup pictorial, I'll change some of the pictures and put our pre-nup pics instead. If not, then I'm okay with this na! ^_^ Feel ko pa nga sana dagdagan ng mga anik-anik pa yung corkboard eh, like a bunch of swatches (denim and all shades of purple), and *notes* for the venues.

Ay ang saya! Heheheh... ^_^ Na-addict nako sa Photoshop!

Balay and the Tent

Yesterday, Dar and I visited Balay Kalinaw to look at those bothersome stairs.



So here's how the stairs looked:



That's 11 steps each flight, so that's 22 steps in all. Dar, in general, was okay with it na. He said either temp ramp na lang daw, or somebody, er some bodys have to carry/pull Des up. I repeatedly assured him na bahala na ang Balay don. Alangan namang mga naka-bihis sila in their suits/barongs tapos bubuhatin nila si BIL2B.

Hay. Buti naman. I was getting worried na we might change venues pa. I love it na sa Balay eh. Mas significant lang talaga na our wedding is celebrated in U.P., where it all started. :)

We then proceeded to the Fort for the Wedding Expo!

My main reason for going to the Expo was to look for a photographer and a cake supplier. I especially wanted to visit the booth of Sugarbox because of the 1.8K mini-cake I heard (read?) through W@W yahoogroups. I also wanted to look at the layouts of the different photographers for their digital storybook.

A particular company, Little Dreams, was recommended by a friend of an office mate. This friend-of-an-officemate is also a freelance photographer, kaya siya pinakilala ng office mate ko. If I wanted daw kasi somebody to take pictures of the wedding, baka puede daw sya. And actually, puede rin sana sya, kasi mababa lang yung charge nya for his (and his partner's) services. As in services lang ha, walang album, unlimited (?) pictures daw sa CD. Pero this freelance photog was pushing for Little Dreams and/or Decisive Moments, kung ano daw mas kaya ng budget ko. He's currently an apprentice daw kasi of Mel Cortez (of Decisive Moments). Sabi ko liit lang budget ko, so sabi nya na better na sa Little Dreams ako mag-inquire.

So when I got to the Expo, siyempre inquire-inquire. Tapos nag-name-drop ako, "I was actually referred by a friend of an office mate" then I said his name. Hehehe, magic words, binigyan ako ng FREE pre-nup studio pictorial! I wasn't really expecting that, more of tignan ko kung my ties talaga si friend-ni-office-mate sa Little Dreams. So mukhang meron nga. :P

Siyempre marami rin akong tinignan na ibang mga photographers. Hehehe, more of maraming nakolekta na brochures. Ang hirap pala mag-inquire kasi ang dami-dami-daming tao. Well, we weren't really there to book a supplier eh, more of tignan lang naman kung ano ang mga options namin for our photographer. We also learned the different types of printing the digital album (ang naalala ko na lang ngayon eh matte :P).

Next up, cakes. Liked the cakes of Karla Magbanua, very personalized yung cake nya. Loved the cake she did for the optometrists [? tama ba, yung mga eye doctors] which I saw sa Metro Weddings na magazine [Yes, finally bought the one with Claudine on the cover, next time ko na kuwento about the denim motif of Gozum].

And finally, nakita ko na yung 1.8k na minicakes of Sugarbox. It's not that small naman, pero it's not that big nga [syempre! mini cake nga eh :P]. Dar said it was a little too small. I said, we can have three, tapos lahat yon all edible layers pa. He was kind of surprised, "Bakit yung sa ibang cake ba hindi edible lahat?" I told him na sometimes, when the cake is HUGE, only one layer or a part of the layer is edible. Mega react si Dar, gusto daw nya malaking cake and lahat edible. Okay ka lang? Hahahah, sino kakain ng lahat ng cake na yon? He said na yun lang daw pakain namin sa guests. Haaay. Ang kulit.

Then we passed by the W@W booth. On display were the unity coins.



Darius wanted them for our wedding! Yun lang, hehehe, so happy na he has a say on the wedding naman :) Kaso, he wanted gold, ako kasi more on silver ako eh. Pero since minsan lang naman sya magka-opinion regarding our wedding, I go for gold na rin. Didn't buy muna, kahit na we could get it for 100 bux less. Sabi naman ni Dar, okay lang yon, 100 lang naman difference eh. And yun nga, we weren't at the expo to buy anything or book suppliers, we were there just to look around and to get ideas.

Haaay. Ayun, mejo mission accomplished naman this weekend. Dami ko ng ideas pero I have to sift through them pa kundi baka mawalan na kami ng budget hahaha :D

Dilemma

CF Kat called Balay Kalinaw to see if the stairs problem can be remedied, as Dar would really like a temporary ramp for his brother's wheelchair. Balay Kalinaw said that they'd already dealt with that problem before and they carried/pushed the wheelchair upstairs. I told CF that we'd look into the place this weekend, para makita naman kung feasible ba yung ramp. Baka mas okay kung 4 persons na lang could carry the wheelchair (syempre with BIL2B) upstairs.

Pero sad thing nga lang kasi Dar wanted to change venues na agad when he learned na walang elevator para sa brother nya. Nakaka-sad lang na palit agad ng venue, eh puede namang gawan pa sana ng paraan. Tsaka kung magpapalit ng venue, palit na rin ng church kung ganon. Eh kaya nga sa Balay kami kasi sa U.P. nga eh, our school where we met and where our love grew (naks). Eh di mawawalan na ng saysay yon. Pero nainis naman ako sa sarili ko kasi feeling ko ang babaw ko na parang di ko man lang naisip yung needs ng brother nya. So yun.

Mejo na-uplift naman ako dun sa tinext ni CF about Balay. Si CF talaga ang galing, tinawagan nya agad yung Balay after I called her up to make kuwento to her nga about Dar's reaction. So yun lang. Thanks Kat :)

An Afternoon of Wedding Preps

Last Wednesday, my coordinator-friend (CF) Kat and I met at Starbucks Metrowalk to talk about wedding preps, and of course kuwentuhan na rin. :)

Some of the things we finalized:

1. Rent out the whole 2nd floor of Balay Kalinaw

CF Kat wanted to have a receiving area for the guests while they waited for us (me and Dar and the rest of the entourage) to arrive from church. Cocktails-cocktails ganyan. And para na rin siguro talaga ma-implement yung seating arrangement.

I told Kat this might prove to be a problem because MIL2B might become ma-PR and just ask everybody to go inside and seat themselves, just like what she did nung wedding ni SIL2B.

Ang taray ni CF: "Ay, ayoko ng pinapakialaman ha!"

Hahhaha... All in good fun syempre when she said that. She's met MIL2B naman eh, and she knows what I'm talking about. I assured her that Dar will let her mom be *steady lang* hehehe.

Problem: I knew Dar wouldn't like it that the reception would take place at the 2nd floor of Balay because of Des (who's in wheelchair). CF Kat assured me that it was not that many steps. But we still thought it best to consult Dar.

2. CF liked my Save-the-Date corkboards idea!

So much so na pang-souvenir na talaga sya at di na pang-save-the-date. She also agreed with using the old jeans, para nga mas tipid and mas personalized :) So, might give her a sample soon and syempre will post pics here na rin.

3. Game na kami with Ignacio's as caterer.

Ignacio's kasi is the caterer-suki of MIL2B. I've tasted the food na many of times (during MIL2B's and SIL2B's birthdays) and okay naman talaga. Mejo ambivalent lang ako dun sa "elegant buffet setup" na sinasabi dun sa brochure nila kasi baka naman di bumagay dun sa theme or motif ko :( Pero magagawan naman yan ng paraan ng creativity namin ni CF :)

Yung kukunin namin yung 200-250 per head, and sobrang okay na yung menu non. Kasi since suki si MIL2B, we can exchange viands na from different set menus. Also the payment is not due on the day of the event mismo. Since MIL2B is the one paying for the wedding, good ito para sa kanya para naman di masyadong bigatin ang bayaran on the day itself.

4. Mejo sure na ang Sugarbox cakes.

Eto, based on the prices lang na I get from emails from the W@W yahoogroups. For a 3-layer mini-cake, it's 1.8K lang, base's diameter is around 4 inches and all edible pa! CF said we get 3 mini-cakes para 3 x 3 = 9 ==> our anniv month and day :)

5. Gusto ko talaga ng digital storybook!

As in. So kelangan i-overhaul ang budget dahil sa luho kong ito :P Well di naman, kasi nga yung sinabi naming budget kay CF before eh laging nadadagdagan kasi nagiging mas generous (or malabo!) 'tong si MIL2B. I'm really willing to scrimp and save for good photos (and lay-outs!) of our wedding. Ayan, so budget for this luho just upped our expected expenses by 32K (from a 10K budget for photos to around 42K para we can have that storybook + freebies). Pero syempre will still consider budget first and foremost when we scout for photographers.


6. We'll be getting Hourglass!

Ang galing talaga gumawa ng connections ni CF! Naging friendly friends sya with somebody from NU107 and it turned out na this guy was Hourglass' manager! He's going to give us a HUGE discount, as in around 25%-30% discount! Woohoo!

Eto talaga natutuwa ako kasi Hourglass pa lang talaga ang pinaka-input ni Dar sa wedding. Nagustuhan kasi nya yung Hourglass when we got to watch them last year sa UP Fair. When we finally finalized (ang panget :P) to have our wedding this year, he said he wanted a band, instead of a DJ, and that he wanted Hourglass. O diba, may input ang baby ko hehehe :P When I asked CF kung how much ang Hourglass, nahimatay ako sa taas ng presyo nila. Scrapped na talaga ang Hourglass from our plans, kasi di talaga kaya ng budget. Pero yun nga, super duper discounted na sila so game na uli ang Hourglass! :D

Ayan, one afternoon with my CF and andami na naming na-plano! Super excited na naman ako after leaving Starbucks. Haaay. Ang sarap lang meeting up with her because she gets all excited rin eh. Pag si Dar kasi kinausap mo about the preps he'd just say "Okay", "Nice", "Sure", and the phrase I hate the most: "Ikaw bahala". Hmp :P

Wedding Expo na sa weekend! Shempre punta kami ni Dar ^_^
